Principal Message

At the onset I am reminded of this famous quote by Victor Hugo:”There is nothing as powerful as an idea whose time has come”. For our race CREATIVITY & KNOWLEDGE is that idea which will fight Frowning faces, twisted eye-brows, shrugs and shudders which are amongst the most common expressions radiating from people around the world who have been affected due to the Global Meltdown, irrespective of their occupation, age, experience. What started out as a sub-prime lending crisis in the U.S. has now transformed into a ‘shock wave’ giving everyone a taste of the tremor it beholds. And nobody is left unscathed by the present global financial fiasco- not even the youth community, which has only recently understood how severe inflation could be.

‘ In the medieval tomes, being unable to read and write was a curse. In the modern era, lack of monetary knowledge is curse’. The youth today should quickly realize the practical importance of these words and therefore, there should be a gradual and steady inclination towards getting the basic skill right when it comes to finance and its derivatives. It won’t be an exaggeration to assume that soon there will be a time when the global- financial-system-management wouldn’t lie entirely in the hands of the ‘grey-beards’, which is apparently the case now. Moreover, it all works out good for a country, in particular, which can be rest assured of a strong economy largely impervious to foreign influences. And more so in case of India, which houses around 55 percent young and eager-to-learn blood.

The purpose of education is to teach a student how to live his life-by developing his mind and equipping him to deal with reality. The training he needs is theoretical, i.e., conceptual with strong practical, hands on approach to basics. He has to be taught to think, to understand, to integrate, to prove and to apply. He has to be taught the essentials of the knowledge discovered in the past and to be equipped to acquire further knowledge by his own effort. The success of any nation depends on the youth who further depends upon the quality of instruction that can only be provided through quality teacher education. The success of any nation depends on the youth who further depend upon the quality of instruction that can only be provided trough quality teacher education. The question of what knowledge, attitudes, behaviour and skill teachers should possess is the subject of much debate all over the world. This is understandable, as teachers are entrusted with the transmission of society’s beliefs, attitudes and values, as well as information, advice and wisdom to the child. A teacher has not only to instruct but also to inspire the students; he has to influence the life and character of his students, and equip them with ideas and value which enable them to enter the stream of national life as worthy citizens. The DAV college faculty and staff are there to support your goal of becoming and being that individual.

We look forward to guiding you in your journey of self discovery as you embark upon and pursue your professional goals. I will end with the words of Barack Obama: “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we have been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”
